Using the 'upminos' Utility
The upminos utility is provided for the FlashModule and QuickFIRE controllers. If is used to allow a new version of the operating system to be loaded into the controller by downloading the new code using the serial port. To do this you must have a working version of the Minos operating system running on the controller. If this is not the case, for FlashModule's you will require a FlashFormatter and for QuickFIRE controllers refer to your documentation regarding the Bootstrap feature.
This program can only be used to change the three operating system sectors, it will not modify any other sectors. At the C> prompt load in the program 'upminos' (it will load at address $f00000) and then run the program. The program will ask you to enter the image file that you want to load. After you have entered the file name the program issue a warning that this process could prevent your controller working correctly. If you decide to continue the image file will be downloaded into the RAM on the controller. When the download is complete the Flash memory is erased and then the downloaded image file is copied from the RAM location into the Flash memory. It is vital that the process is not interrupted once the data has been downloaded as the flash can be either completely erased or only partially programmed which will prevent your controller functioning correctly. If this does happen you will need to return the controller to be reprogrammed (FlashModule) or if you have a FlashFormatter for a FlashModule you can use this to reprogram the Flash memory. There will be a charge for this service. If you are using a QuickFIRE controller refer to your documentation regarding Bootstrap feature to recover the functionality of the board.
